A while ago I watched an
art:21 episode on
Ann Hamilton and fell in love with her work, specifically her Face to Face series. It's genius, really. She created a
pinhole camera that she places in her mouth. When she opens her mouth the film is exposed. Because the shape of the mouth is recorded in the exposure, the final print looks like the shape of an eye with the subject in the center or the pupil of the eye. Pretty cool, huh?
Here is the art:21 video. It's pretty long but if you start it at 41:06 she talks about this particular project.
